After putting on a high-profile showing during Best Whip and Super Moto at X Games 15, AMA Motocross and Supercross champion James Stewart has made the last-minute decision to pull out of X Games 16. Locked into Best Whip, Super X and Speed & Style for 2010, Stewart had the potential to be a triple threat gold medal winner.

Remounting his bike less than a month ago after breaking the scaphoid bone in his right hand after an altercation with Chad Reed during Phoenix round of the '10 Monster Energy...

Joel Parkinson doubts he'll surf Teahupoo
July 20, 2010 at 8:47 AM

It was the heel slice seen 'round the world. Nearly two weeks ago, Joel Parkinson was where he usually is this time of year: right up in the mix for an ASP world title. Then, in a routine barrel caught during a routine training session at Snapper, everything went sideways in a frighteningly familiar way. It was only a year ago that a freesurfing ankle injury derailed one of the most foregone title runs in recent memory. Now, thanks to a fin gash that quite nearly cut his heel off, Parkinson is right...

De La Rosa, White leave Fit Bike Co.
July 20, 2010 at 8:33 AM

As of yesterday, Edwin De La Rosa and Tom White have officially left the Fit Bike Co. pro team. Not much was said about the split, except the following statement, which was made on the Fit Bike Co. site: "Best of luck to Ed and Tom with their new bike project!" There has been speculation of Edwin starting a new bike company, but we're waiting for official confirmation from Edwin and his crew before we back up that claim. To commemorate Edwin's time with Fit, Fit has assembled a slideshow of photos...

July 20, 2010 at 8:32 AM

DVS prides itself on retaining its skateboarders. Over the company's fifteen-year history, many of the pros that began their careers with DVS still proudly stand behind the brand today--names that have changed skateboarding--Daewon Song, Chico Brenes, Jeron Wilson, and Daniel Castillo.

In recent years, DVS has made some strong additions to the team--brining in new talent to carry the company into the future. Skaters like Torey Pudwill, Andrew Brophy, Kenny Hoyle, Jimmy Cao, and Robbie Russo truly...

Stilletos, fisticuffs and black barrels
July 19, 2010 at 12:25 PM

Last year, ESPN Skate editor, Adam Salo, told me that I have more East Coast pride than anyone he's ever met. I took that as a compliment and then we went and skated some fun little mini ramp. Anyway, this is one of those posts where it's going to pour out, almost to a point of being obnoxious.

Friday night was the World Premiere of Alex DePhillipo's "Dark Fall" at the House of Blues in Atlantic City. It's the new action-documentary about leading the surf life in New Jersey, complete with the glorious...

BMX Masters '10 comes to a close
July 18, 2010 at 5:45 PM

The 2010 BMX Masters are now officially in the record books, and according to my Twitter feed, the comp was a good one. Since the Worlds are once again on hold this year, I'm going to call the annual BMX Masters weekend in Cologne, Germany the closest thing most of us will come to the Worlds. And judging from the stacked pool of talent on hand for the BMX Masters, I assume that I'm not the only one feeling that way. On the one hand, I'm bummed about the Worlds unofficially going away, but with...
